Thomas S. Hall, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Tom Hall joined First Choice Emergency Room as an experienced leader of the healthcare industry. Prior to First Choice ER Tom served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer for NovaMed (NASDAQ: NOVA). During his tenure at NovaMed, Tom transformed the organization from a single specialty surgery center company into a multi-specialty surgery center company operating in 19 states. Prior to NovaMed, Tom served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Matria Healthcare Inc. (NASDAQ: MATR), a leading provider of disease management programs to large employers and health plans. Previously he was President of ADP TotalSource.
Tom earned an MBA from Clarkson University and a BA in Business from Goshen College.
Graham B. Cherrington, President & Chief Operating Officer
Graham has over ten years of healthcare industry experience and recently served as Chief Operating Officer of WellNow Urgent Care. Previously he was Executive Vice President of Operations for NovaMed (NASDAQ: NOVA), an operator 37 outpatient surgery centers in 19 states. Prior to NovaMed, Graham was Senior Vice President of Operations for Matria Healthcare, Inc. a provider of disease management services to health plans and employers, with responsibility for the company's health & wellness and oncology management business units.
Graham began his career with Accenture, and PepsiCo. He received an MBA from the University of Florida and a BS in Business from the University of Illinois.
Frank Williams - Chief Financial Officer
Frank has over 20 years’ experience in healthcare, finance, and transactions. Prior to joining Adeptus, Frank was the Senior Vice President and Senior Managing Director-Acquisitions for Medical Properties Trust (MPT) for the past five years. Before MPT, Frank was a Managing Director in the healthcare investment banking division at Barclays Capital. Before that, he was a Senior Managing Director in the healthcare group at Bear, Stearns & Co, Inc. He earned his MBA from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business and BA and BS from Southern Methodist University.
Mike Corey - Chief Development Officer
Mike Corey has more than twenty years of real estate experience in a variety of different roles and has been responsible for several hundred new store openings. He has held a number of executive leadership positions in retail including Senior Vice President of Store Development for Hollywood/Movie Gallery, Chief Development Officer for Eastern Mountain Sports and Vice President of Domestic Real Estate for Blockbuster. His responsibilities have included market strategy, new store site selection and development, construction, facilities, asset management, lease administration and franchising.
Mike holds a Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law and received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Dallas. He is a licensed attorney in the State of Texas and an ICSC member.
Andrew Jordan, Chief Marketing Officer
Andrew has held various marketing leadership roles for packaged goods and retail companies as well as supported hospitality, retail and restaurant clients through his own consulting practice. He served as Senior Vice President Marketing for T.G.I. Friday's and Chief Marketing Officer for Wyndham International. Under his leadership, Wyndham created and executed a unique brand positioning that significantly grew market share and tripled consumer loyalty.
Additionally, Andrew was President of Club Med and Group Manager for the Global Coca-Cola Brand Team based in Atlanta. He spent over ten years in advertising in New York including roles as Senior Vice President and Management Supervisor at both Lowe & Partners/SMS and Wells Rich Greene BDDP Communications, Inc. He began his career as a media planner at Ogilvy & Mather. Andrew holds an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business and received a BS in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jason Worley, Chief Information Officer
Jason Worley has over 20 years of experience focused in information technology, including 15 years of management experience. Jason worked in several high-growth companies, in various sectors including healthcare, telecommunications/security, and financial clearinghouse. Jason has been involved with First Choice Emergency Room since 2003, and came on full-time in 2005.
Jason's education includes an undergraduate degree in Management Science and Computer Systems from Oklahoma State University, and an MBA focused on statistics and HR from the University of Oklahoma.
Ricardo Martinez, M.D., FACEP - Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Martinez is a nationally recognized board-certified emergency physician and has practiced emergency medicine clinically for more than 30 years, and held senior roles in business, academia, and the federal government. Before joining Adeptus Health, Dr. Martinez was Chief Medical Officer of North Highland Worldwide Consulting, where a major focus of his work was collaborating with physician leadership to enhance their effectiveness in providing high-value care, building data-driven patient-centered teams, and driving cultural change. Dr. Martinez also served as the Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs for the Schumacher Group, a leading emergency medicine practice management company, and was previously appointed Federal Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) by President Clinton. He currently serves as faculty at Emory University School of Medicine and previously held roles at Stanford University School of Medicine and as Executive Director of the Medical Leadership Academy. Dr. Martinez has been a senior medical advisor to the National Football League since 1988, facilitating medical care, emergency planning, preparedness and public health for The Super Bowl. He was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences in 2004 and served on the Board of Directors of the Public Health Foundation.
Dr. Martinez pursued undergraduate studies from Louisiana State University, an M.D. from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, and his residency at LSU-Charity Hospital at New Orleans, where he was Chief Resident.
James M. “Mike" Muzzarelli, M.D. - Executive Medical Director
Dr. Muzzarelli received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Cum Laude, from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1993. While at UTA Mike conducted research in Cell Physiology and Organic Chemistry and was a teaching assistant in Cell Physiology. He was also an active member and an officer in the Medical and Dental Preparatory Association of UTA. Mike then earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1998. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University/Detroit Receiving Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in 2001. He not only served as Chief Resident of his residency program, he also was awarded, “Resident of the Year" honors as voted on by the entire emergency department staff.
Mike returned to North Texas, where Mike served as an Attending Emergency Room Physician at Medical Center of Lewisville. Mike received his board certification in Emergency Medicine from the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 2003. In June of 2004 he joined Dr. Novak at Flower Mound Emergency Care Center (subsequently First Choice ER). Since joining First Choice ER, Dr. Muzzarelli has served as the Facility Medical Director at both the Flower Mound and North Forth Worth Locations.
Donald A. Adam, Chief Corporate Development Officer
Don Adam joined First Choice Emergency Room in 2013 to accelerate the company's hospital partnership efforts. Prior to joining First Choice Emergency Room, Don served as the chief development officer and senior vice president of mergers and acquisitions at St. Louis-based RehabCare Group Inc., prior to its sale to Kindred Healthcare. Most recently, Don held the role of chief development officer at Lafayette, Louisiana-based LHC Group, Inc.
Don is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in finance. He holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.
David Pyle, Executive Vice President
David Pyle joined First Choice Emergency Room in 2013. Previously, David was the Vice President of Operational Services at Surgery Partners after it acquired NovaMed, Inc. At Surgery Partners, David was responsible for various surgical center operations including multiple single and multi-specialty centers, the supply chain for 50 ASC's and 16 physician practices, and the entire non-surgical corporate portfolio. Prior to Surgery Partners, David was the Director of Operations for a $320M, multi-state luxury retail operation where he was responsible for operations and sales of his region.
David holds an MBA from Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business and a BBA in Management from Baylor University.
Heather Weimer, Senior Vice President of Operational Services
Heather was a member of the founding team at First Choice Emergency Room. Her broad experience with First Choice ER includes working at the facility front desk, managing the facility office, and managing all billing and collection activities for all entities. Prior to joining First Choice ER, Heather worked at Metro Electric; an electrical subcontractors office. She was a one person coordinator for the entire staff; answering phones, scheduling appointments, paying bills, and handling all tax issues with the exception of federal income tax.
In her current role at First Choice ER, Heather has her hands in many areas of the company. As a member of the founding team, she ensures First Choice ER continues to provide the highest quality emergency medical care with superior customer service.
Traci Bowen, Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Traci joined FCER in 2011. She is responsible for all aspects of Human Capital Planning including talent acquisition and deployment, compensation and total rewards, diversity, leadership and organizational development, learning, operational excellence and strategic advisory. Traci has over 20 years' experience leading high-performing human resource teams that contribute to business success. Her industry experience includes: financial services, information technology, telecommunications, and healthcare.
Traci holds a BBA in Business Administration (Finance/Economics) from Texas A&M University, Texarkana. Additionally, she holds a project management certification from the University of Colorado and a certification in facilitation from AchieveGlobal. Traci is a certified interpreter in the Birkman assessment, Predictive Index assessment and has held the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Society of Human Resource Management since 1999.
Timothy M. Mueller, General Counsel
Tim has over ten years of experience advising clients in all facets of business operations in both private practice and as in-house counsel. His broad legal experience includes the representation of companies and entrepreneurs in matters involving large commercial transactions, real estate development, corporate governance, and labor and employment. Prior to joining First Choice Emergency Room, Tim served as Corporate Counsel for Brink's, Incorporated.
Tim earned a B.A. In Government from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
