First Choice Emergency Room offers a new concept in emergency care: free standing, fully equipped emergency clinics that take the emergency room out of the hospital and place it in your community.

All of our physicians are board certified in emergency medicine, and all FCER nurses are emergency trained.

Facility Medical Director

Oscar Vela, MD
Dr. Vela earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He trained at Texas Tech Universitys Department of Emergency Medicine. He has special interest in emergency radiology and academic medicine. He serves as a clinical instructor at Texas Tech Health Science Center in El Paso. Dr. Vela is board eligible with the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He is fluent both in English and Spanish. He travels within Texas to work in trauma centers in the Corpus Christi and El Paso area.
